Eat: Heritage India (Georgetown)

Last night the family and I had a late (for us) dinner at Heritage India in Georgetown. I am a huge fan of Indian food and always excited to get the opportunity to try a new restaurant. Our experience at Heritage India was both good and bad.

The restaurant itself has a nice decor with rich colors, ethnic art, and relatively comfortable seats. Overall the atmosphere is pleasant enough and quiet enough to hold a conversation without shouting at each other.

The staff we generally very nice and helpful although we did run into some issues including an appetizer that never showed up and a Paneer Makhni for our daughter that was way to spicy for a six year old. Service also seemed a bit on the slow side but that might have been because we were starving.

The food at Heritage India was very good and reasonably priced for a mid to upscale restaurant. I had a Murgh Tikka Masala that was quite good and, once we had a lot of yogurt added to it, my daughter liked her Paneer. The Nan and Parantha was only ok (nothing to write home about).

Overall Heritage India is worth a visit if you are in Georgetown and looking for Indian that trends more towards Tandoori style. If you are looking to travel a bit for the best in local Indian dinning I would recommend one of my favorites like Raaga in Falls Church or My Karma Indian Bistro in Lorton. Further afield is Saffron Indian Bistro in Virginia Beach which I absolutely love.
