Want: This is why I want a Chrome laptop

The team at Google put together this amusing video of the advantages of using Chrome.

I only hope that one of the 25 Chrome laptops destroyed in this video weren’t meant for me…

In other news here are some pictures on Engadget of what the inside of the CR-48 looks like after a lucky recipient tears it apart:

And another review of Chrome OS and the CR-48 from Gizmodo:

Want: Chrome OS and the CR-48

Google announced on Monday that they are preparing to launch a Chrome OS pilot program. Individuals selected by Google to participate in the pilot program will receive a CR-48 Chrome Laptop from Google who says, “in return, we’ll expect you to use it regularly and send us detailed feedback”. On Wednesday DigiTimes reported that Google supplier Inventec had already shipped 60,000 of the CR-48s so it appears that the pilot program is going to be fairly large.

I admit that as soon as I heard about the pilot program I signed up to participate. Just check out that CR-48 Chrome Laptop and all of its black, minimalist sexiness. Want to know what using one will be like look?  Take the Chrome Web browser for a spin.

I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed. As a big user of Google products (Gmail, Reader, Code, Storage, etc.) the opportunity to test the new OS would be very cool.

Update: A lucky few people who have been accepted into the pilot program are already receiving their CR-48s. And yes I am a little jealous…

Update 2 and 3: Early reviews of the CR-48 and Chrome are coming in:
